Root Canals in Wembley Downs, Sorrento and Doubleview

Dental Link Endodontic Therapy

Doubleview Root CanalIf you’re suffering from a severe toothache or recently fractured tooth, it could be that the dental pulp (nerve) inside of the tooth is damaged. The dentists at Dental Link can help you restore your tooth before it needs to be extracted.

Why is a Root Canal Important?

The pulp of your tooth contains nerves and blood vessels that keep the tooth alive. If irreversible damage to the pulp takes place, inflammation or abscesses can develop. Not only is the affected tooth damaged, but the infection may spread to adjacent teeth as well.

We use special instruments to remove the infected pulp, followed by medication placed inside of the tooth to completely eliminate bacteria. Finally, the root canals are cleaned and sealed off to prevent further infection.

After Your Endodontic Treatment

Teeth are no longer sensitive after having a root canal, as there is not a vital nerve inside of the tooth. However, a bit of discomfort may remain a few days after the procedure. Our dentists may prescribe an anti-inflammatory medication to limit unnecessary pain during your recovery.

Even without a vital blood supply, endodontically treated teeth continue to thrive because of the attachment tissues surrounding the root and holding it in place. Our Wembley Downs, Sorrento and Doubleview dentists will need to place a crown over the tooth to prevent any damage to the brittle enamel left behind.

If you’re experiencing tooth pain or sensitivity, contact Dental Link today to schedule an exam. We’re open late, with three convenient locations to choose from.
