Meet Sue Shepherd, Dental Therapist

Perth Dental Therapist Sue Shepherd

A Passion for People and Oral Health

Sue has been an integral part of our team since 1986, bringing over 40 years of dedicated experience to every patient interaction. She’s driven daily by a genuine love of working with people and being part of a team that improves not just smiles, but overall health and longevity.

Education and Expertise

Sue graduated from the Western Australian Institute of Technology (now Curtin University) in 1985 with an Associate Diploma in Dental Therapy. Since then, she’s continually expanded her knowledge through decades of hands-on experience, specialising in:

  • Comprehensive hygiene appointments
  • Radiography
  • Bleaching treatments
  • Periodontal treatment and maintenance

The Connection Between Oral Health and Overall Wellbeing

Sue is particularly passionate about the link between oral health and chronic disease. She understands that untreated periodontal disease is associated with coronary heart disease, diabetes, and premature births in pregnant women. The bacteria that begins as simple plaque can have far-reaching effects—it’s been found in the brains of Alzheimer’s and dementia patients, and in the joints of rheumatoid arthritis sufferers.

Maintaining good oral health plays a significant role in nutrition and overall general health, and I enjoy being part of a team delivering this to patients.”

Family is at the heart of everything Sue does. She lives close to her parents and two sisters, and they all share a strong commitment to maintaining close family relationships.
